To your point, I don't dispute there have been impressive changes in remote communications and AR technologies.

My point is the absence of major combinational and original innocation across multiple industries over the last 60 years.

Certaintly better remote communication tools could help, but research seems to still suggest nothing quite beats physical proximity for generating the most impacful research.
